#42 Jacob Stevens' Senior Profile!

Jacob Stevens is the son of Bill and Julie Stevens. He has been playing basketball since the third grade, and is a two-year varsity letterman. He is also a two-year varsity letterman in tennis, where he earned HCC All-Conference, and Academic All-State Honorable Mention. Jacob is also a Student Ambassador for Brownsburg High School. After graduation, he plans to attend college, and major in Engineering.

There have been many great memories from playing basketball at Brownsburg High School, but, by far, the best one was last year's state championship. He would like to encourage those kids just entering the basketball program in Brownsburg to keep up their grades and practice hard.

Jacob would like to thank his Indy Hoops coaches, especially Mike Western, and the late Jerry Hinds, who gave so much of his time and heart to the program. He will always be remembered. Also, thanks to Coach Kendrick and the rest of the basketball staff, his teammates, his fellow seniors, J.D. and Austin, the fans, the pep band, and the team parents for all the meals. Finally, he would like to thank his sister, Victoria, and his parents for all their love and support, and for always being there to cheer him on.

#9 team in the Nation too much for Dogs

The boys’ basketball team came out battling last night vs. the #1 team in the state Bloomington South, who is also ranked #9 in the country. J.D. Cosby scored seven of the Bulldogs 15 first quarter points to give the Dogs a 15-14 lead. In addition, Cosby, Jacob Eldridge and the rest of the Dogs held Mr. Basketball candidate Jordan Hulls to a mere 12 points. However, a balanced attack from the Panthers was too much for the Dogs. Bloomington South put three players in double figures and three more scored nine points. Torrey Nibbs drove his way to a game high 17 points. Kurtis Runyon had 7 points. Roach and Fish both scored six points. Stevens knocked down a trey and Eldridge connected on two freebies. The Bulldogs are now 11-6, with Senior Night vs. Lafayette Jeff this coming Friday. Come out and pay tribute to Austin Fish, J.D. Cosby, and Jacob Stevens for their dedication to Brownsburg Basketball.

The final score, Westfield 67- the Dogs 57. The Bulldogs moved to 10-5 on the season and 6-2 in the HCC.

Brownsburg's strong finish propels them over the Millers

Great bench play and key free-throws lifted the Dogs to a team victory this past Friday. Although the Dogs took a 21-18 lead at the half, it was their 30 point fourth quarter that gave the Bulldogs the victory over HCC opponent Noblesville. While Austin Fish was being hounded by the Miller defense, J.D. Cosby and Torrey Nibbs combined for 23 out of 30 fourth quarter points including going a combined 14-15 from the free throw line. Timely baskets also came from Jacob Stevens, Jacob Eldridge, and Fish to secure the win for the Dogs. Brownsburg needed a strong finish after trailing 24-25 heading into the final stanza. The Bulldogs only scored three points in the third quarter. Thankfully Eldridge connected on a pull up and Cosby hit a free-throw for the three point total. Jacob Eldridge again lifted the Bulldog offense by scoring six of the Dogs' seven points off the bench. Out of the gates the Bulldog defense held the Millers to only five points while tallying up 13 of their own behind Torrey Nibbs who scored eight of his 18 points. J.D. Cosby led all scorers with a career high 21 points. Nibbs added 18. Eldridge dropped in six points all coming in the second half. Fish connected for four points. Stevens added a bucket to go with his team high six rebounds. Runyon connected on a post move and pulled down three boards. And Alan Paddock knocked down a free throw for the final score 54-47. Thank you Mr. McKeon, the sports marketing class, and the Dog Pound for your support! We hope to see you at Westfield High School this Friday!
