(Part of the Bulldog Family blessed by the kindness of Joseph, the young man in the Colts hat.)Thanks to several key parents who helped organize and lead our program, and to Mike Barclay, director and minister at the Wheeler Missions. Because of you our basketball players, managers, and coaches were blessed by some of the nicest men we have ever met. Moreover we all heard firsthand the slippery slope of addiction that conquers many.

This day of impact began with a tour of the Wheeler Mission. We saw where men who have made the choice to overcome addiction and homelessness reside, work, and hourly lift one another above the grasp of chemical dependence. The tour was followed by testimonies from Mike and Danny. Both stories hit home with teenagers and adults, as they told of their poor choices, the impact of these choices on their lives and their loved ones, and their success in

overcoming through Christ. Then, it was time to get to work and help the

Men of Lighthouse feed those in need. Players, managers, parents, and coaches eagerly fell in line as we were instructed to fulfill numerous jobs.

Some rolled silverware, scooped peas and noodles, placed biscuits, chicken, and desserts onto trays. Others poured drinks, refilled cups, and cleared away trash and tray. We wiped down tables, swept floors, and cleaned pots and pans, and this is just to name a few of the tasks accomplished that day. Through it all the Bulldogs mirrored the warmth and contentment of the gentlemen of Wheeler Missions to all of the men who came that day. Those men came looking for more than a warm meal; they came looking for a warm heart. We were blessed to join with
Mike Barclay and the

men of Wheeler Missions and give them the love God asks us to give to our neighbors. Thank you gentlemen!
